Development application for No. 22 Brodie-Hall Drive, BENTLEY

The Town has received a development application for a research and development child care premises at the above-mentioned property. The estimated cost of development (excluding GST) is $2,000,000. The proposed development comprises:

  • The construction of single storey building with nine (9) car bays, three (3) bicycle racks, bin-store, fencing and landscaping;
  • Research and development work occurring as part of the child care premises operation;
  • Up to 51 children onsite;
  • Up to 12 staff members (three (3) staff relating to the research and development component, and nine (9) staff relating to the child care premises component); and,
  • Opening hours of 6.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, excluding weekends and public holidays.

In accordance with Local Planning Policy 37 – Community Consultation on Planning Proposals, you are invited to comment on the following:

  • Proposed Use - A ‘child care premises’ land use is classified as a “D” (discretionary use) within the Technology Park Special Use zone under Local Planning Scheme No. 2.

Please note that a ‘child care premises’ land use can only be contemplated in this zone if:

  • It is undertaken in a ‘research and development’ premises (which is classified as a ‘P’ (permitted use);
  • Is consistent with an approved precinct structure plan; or (in the absence of an approved precinct structure plan),
  • Is located on land designated for mixed use in the Bentley-Curtin Specialised Activity Centre Plan.

In accordance with Local Planning Policy 37 – “Community Consultation on Planning Proposals” the Town is inviting public comments on the proposal until 12 June 2025.  The application will be determined by the Metro Inner Development Assessment Panel.
