5.2026.255.1 - 7 Milford Street, East Victoria Park (Closed)

The Town has received a development application for additions and alterations to the existing Place of Worship at the above-mentioned property.  The proposed additions and alterations include:

• Extension of the break-out hall / foyer at the rear of the existing building by approximately 100m² and construction of open-sided covered alfresco to the south-western side and north-western rear of the building.
• Construction of a multi-level car park at the rear of the site providing a total of 101 car bays including 33 on the ground level, 32 on level 1 and 36 on the top level. Access to the car park will be from the existing driveway along the south-western side of the property and a ramp to the upper-level car bays will be located at the north-western rear of the car park. The new car park will provide for a total of 103 car bays, being an increase of 35 on-site car bays.

In accordance with Local Planning Policy 37 – Community Consultation on Planning Proposals (LPP37), you are invited to comment on the following:

• Proposed Use - The application proposes additions/alterations to an existing Place of Worship which is classified as an ‘A’ (discretionary use) within the Light Industry zone under Local Planning Scheme No. 2.

An ‘A’ use means that the means that the use is not permitted unless the local government has exercised its discretion by granting development approval after advertising the application in accordance with the Town’s LPP37. 

The Town will exercise its discretion based on the merits of the case, with regard to the relevant local planning framework (such as the provisions of the Town’s Local Planning Scheme No. 2 and Local Planning Policy No. 3 – Non-Residential Uses in Adjacent to Residential Areas), along with consideration of any comments received from the owners and/or occupiers of adjoining properties.
