Nominations now open for the Volunteer Sundowner

In 2026, the Town’s much-loved Community Champion Awards are evolving into the Volunteer Sundowner — a relaxed evening dedicated to celebrating the volunteers who give their time, care and energy to making our community stronger.

Volunteers play an important role in shaping our Town, from supporting local events and groups to helping neighbours and championing causes that make our community a better place to live. This event is our opportunity to recognise and celebrate those everyday heroes.

Nominations are now open in three categories:

• Local Volunteer
• Young Volunteer (under 25 years)
• Group (groups/organisations)

If you know someone whose volunteering makes a difference, we encourage you to put their name forward.

All nominees will be invited to attend the Volunteer Sundowner, a free community celebration featuring food, drinks and entertainment on Friday 22 May at Baillie Hill.
